Abstract
Social inclusion is the removal of the causes of social exclusion, which is a combination of circumstances such as low income, unemployment, poor housing, poor skills and poor health which prevent people from participating fully in society. Extending social inclusion is about removing barriers and facilitating access. Transport fits into social inclusion through providing access to opportunities, for work, leisure, health, education etc. This discussion looks at the barriers to social exclusion and what needs to be done to overcome these barriers. Three elderly focus groups were looked at and and to date, 57 policy actions have been identified using AMELIA. Design guidance has been provided on a number of fronts
