Abstract

Nearly 900 submissions were received in response to the Interim Report into Sustainable Transport. These were in addition to the nearly 300 submissions received earlier. This Final Report takes these views into account as well as information provided by the operators of public passenger transport services. Some of the issues arising from the report are that CityRail must deliver improved safety, service quality. There needs to be an analysis of the social and environmental costs and benefits. And there needs to debate about how targeted, specific road-use pricing might fit into a future integrated approach and how road use pricing might send better signals between public and private transport.
