Abstract

The objective of the TravelSmart project was to create a Sustainable Transport Information System for the residents of Laurimar, a new residential estate North East of Melbourne. Another objective was to establish an internet based car pooling system, as a trial use for the Sustainable Transport Information System and as an initial attempt to modify existing travel behaviour. As a result of the project the community has the Sustainable Transport Webpage as a source of travel information. Car pooling has not been an unqualified success and may never be for this type of community. The City of Whittlesea will continue to work with Laurimar residents. [Country: Australia]
