Abstract
The critical need for specialized transportation services for older adults is easy to recognize. But it's not just a simple matter of expanding public transportation; many elders connect driving with independence and control, and are reluctant to give up that privilege. Any transportation-policy initiatives involving older adults must keep these attitudes in mind. Posted with permission from Generations, Summer 2003, 27:2, pp 23-24
