Abstract
The attitude of young people with respect to the issue of mobility and transportation modes is, from our standpoint, critical and this for two quite apparent reasons. First of all, today's youth does represent tomorrow's adults. Also, it's this segment of the population that, more than the others, reflects the day's societal values, a feature which exerts an obvious influence on the choice of transportation modes They were born with the generation of the.. What are the questions to be reflected upon (in no particular order): - Is the "contagion" of youth infatuation with the automobile simple inevitable? Can this trend someday be reversed? - What kind of awareness can be cultivated for the environment, alternative modes of transportation, collective values, etc.? - And what if the youth population were exactly like other groups, with greater demands and vehemence (youth's "virtues"?) and with today's sets of "values" (personal comfort and self-centeredness)?
