Abstract
ECLIPSE (European Cooperation and Learning to Implement Transport Solutions to Combat Exclusion is one of the 24 projects funded under the European Commission 2nd Trans-National Exchange Program (TEP). The aim of the project is to address the issue of the impact that transport can have on social exclusion and build on the conclusions of MATISSE. The Matisse Project also highlighted the lack of cohesion between policy areas in transport and social departments at European and National levels as well as the lack of good practice transport measures that have had a positive effect on social exclusion. This European Practice Review builds on the menu of transport and inclusion strategies and assessment tools developed in MATISSE and uses information from the National Action Plans as well as examples of good practice collated throughout the project. The ultimate aim of this project is to disseminate a menu of good practice measures, benchmark solutions and evaluation tools to assist transport professionals in combating social exclusion. It provides a summary of good practice in the field of transport and social exclusion at three different levels, Europe, National and Local.
